Industrial Decarbonization and Improvements to Grid Operations (INDIGO)

California Energy Commission (CEC)

What does it fund?

The INDIGO program will provide incentives for industrial projects that provide benefits to the electrical grid and reduce GHG emissions and local air pollution. Eligible projects include those that increase energy efficiency, enhance electrical grid reliability, electrify fossil fuel processes, incorporate energy storage or renewable resources, and deploy novel decarbonization technologies and strategies. Projects that benefit an oil or gas production, processing, or refining facility are not eligible.

Who is eligible for funds?

Industrial facilities located in California and utilities, equipment manufacturers, energy service providers, aggregators, and developers who are implementing cutting-edge, emerging technologies in California industries.

How does this program provide benefits to priority populations?

INDIGO Program projects will decarbonize industrial facilities and processes located in disadvantaged or low-income communities that could result in reduced local air pollutant emissions and provide other benefits. Applications for INDIGO are awarded points for projects located in and benefitting priority populations and must demonstrate and document that a direct community need is met and supported by communities and/or community-based organizations as an outcome of direct engagement.

How do I access funds?
