Mid-Year Data Update

The 2024 Mid-Year Data Update reports the cumulative progress of the California Climate Investments portfolio as of May 31, 2024, and serves to update the information in the 2024 Annual Report to the Legislature on California Climate Investments Using Cap and Trade Auction Proceeds.

From December 2023 through the end of May 2024, California Climate Investments programs implemented nearly $570 million through 5,872 projects that are expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 3.6 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent over project lifetimes. Over 75%, or $450 million in implemented funds from this period are benefiting disadvantaged communities and low-income communities and households, collectively referred to as priority populations.

With continued investments in affordable housing and sustainable communities, sustainable agricultural lands, improved air quality, and more, 90 California Climate Investments programs administered by 24 state agencies have directed billions of dollars into the state’s transition to a low-carbon and more equitable future, reduce GHG emissions, and deliver major economic, environmental, and public health benefits for Californians.
